Two years ago today we posted the below infromation about the tragic loss of 19 Firefighters. Sunday June 30th our firefighting profession had a tragic loss at the Yarnell Hill Fire in Prescott Arizona. 19 firefighters from the Granite Mountain Hotshots lost their lives tragically.

Eustis, FL – Dark smoke filled the sky Sunday afternoon behind the fairgrounds in Eustis. Lake County and Eustis firefighters quickly responded to the dark black column of smoke to find a large pile of tires burning. At 0356 on June 26th, Belmont Fire Alarm struck box 56 for a building fire adjacent to 11 Pearl Street. On arrival Group 2 under the command of Capatin Haley encountered heavy fire. The fire was able to be knocked down quickly by first arriving companies with a 2 1/2 with minor extension to the interior.

City Chapter CBA Ratification Vote is Extended

The City Chapter CBA ratification vote was held today in accordance with Article II of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws. The Constitution & Bylaws require 51% of total eligible members to cast votes for a CBA ratification to be valid. Out of 613 eligible City Chapter IAFF members, we had 289 who actually voted.

It comes with great sorrow that IAFF Local 152, Southern Missouri Professional FireFighters announces the passing of Aaron Goddard.  Aaron began his career in firefighting with the Springfield Fire Department in 2003, and was a proud member of IAFF Local 152 for his entire career and Secretary-Treasurer from 2009 through 2012.  Aaron leaves behind his wife and two daughters.

MFR Weekly Update - Week#3

Local 344 Members, Below is a recap of the MFR meeting attended by DFFA leadership this past Wednesday, June 17th. Engine 39 (12) and Engine 35 (10) had the most MFR runs this past week. MFR rigs were dispatched to 60 calls. On 43 of those calls, the MFR rig actually arrived on scene prior to EMS. Twelve hundred and twenty-six citywide calls were dispatched priority one.

The Passing of an Icon

It is with a heavy heart that IAFF Local 152 announces the passing of our Brother, former SFD Rescue Specialist, and former Secretary-Treasurer Aaron Goddard. Aaron was a hero to all of us. He was an asset on the fireground, in the firehouse, and as a friend, a mentor, a father, and a pillar of his community. As is too often the case, Cancer took him from his family at a shockingly young age.
